The new ISO/PAS 28000:2005 (Publicly Available Specification) or security management system for the supply chain gives organizations and other stakeholders the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving a secure management system. It has been developed in response to the need for a standard applicable to all stakeholders, against which their security management systems can be assessed and certified; and for guidance on the implementation of such a standard. ISO/PAS 28000 is compatible with the ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental) management systems standards and facilitates the integration of quality, environmental and security management systems by those organizations that wish to do so.
